Lily Pads the Size of a Car
A family-fun-packed Saturday is just around the corner! Do you have trouble finding fun and/or inexpensive to do in Gainesville, FL? Well my fellow Gators, I have your answer!
Before leaving home pack a simple and healthy lunch for the family. Turkey sandwiches, apples slices, crackers and some water bottles. Watching those carbs? Make a lettuce roll-up. Take lettuce and roll the turkey and cheese in it like a burrito, wrap it in wax paper and a tooth pick to hold it together. Whatever you choose to pack in your basket make sure it will last a few hours in your car…use a cooler instead of a basket or pack things that don’t need refrigeration. Healthy, quick and easy is the key.
The Flying Biscuit. Have I peaked your interest yet? The name of this restaurant alone is enough to make someone go there and just look inside.
The Flying Biscuit has a fun and lively atmosphere mixed with friendly staff and amazing food. Their eggs are organic and produce is fresh from the farm. Try the Organic Oatmeal Pancakes with peach compote. The pancakes are thick and moist. The topping adds the perfect kick for your taste buds. Sweet yet healthy. Order it with their ‘moon dusted’ potatoes or award winning extra creamy grits. The Flying Biscuit has the best free-range chicken sausage and all natural, hormone-free, grass-fed flat iron steak cooked to order. Don’t forget the biscuits. After all, it’s in their name! The Flying Biscuit has been using the same biscuit recipe since they opened and it is perfected to a T. With its sugary outside and warm soft inside, it makes for the perfect side dish to any breakfast. Try it with their famous cranberry apple butter to add just a little bitter-sweet spark. Located next to The Fresh Market in Gainesville FL, you will find any excuse to eat here once you’ve tried it.
